ROADLOK holds ART 4-star approval in the Netherlands, approval number MBT-4246. The approval runs to 22 February 2029. The range was retested in March 2026 under ART's production conformity program, and new certificates were issued on 11 June 2026.
What ART is
ART is the Dutch quality mark for anti-theft products. Stichting ART, the foundation behind it, rates locks in stars, and SKG-IKOB now runs the foundation's activities. In ART's own description, the 3-star and 4-star tests include lock-picking attempts with specialized tools, often combined with brute force.
Who relies on it
In the Netherlands, theft cover on a motorcycle policy often comes with a lock condition, and the condition names ART. Univé, for one, requires an ART lock of category 4 or 5 for theft cover on its WA+ and All Risk motorcycle policies. Each insurer sets its own conditions, so check your policy for the scheme and the grade it asks for.
What the approval covers
MBT-4246 is a series approval across the XRA range: 80, 100 and 108 mm caliper bolt spacing, left and right side, including the XRA-C100R for select Honda calipers. ART issued the XRA-C100R its own certificate on 6 October 2026, on the same approval and the same validity date.
The attacks an ART test names each meet a ROADLOK feature. The lock cylinder has eight independently rotating discs behind a hardened front disc, with a keyhole cut narrower than standard. A hardened steel anti-drill pin is set in the back of the lock body. Take the mounting bolts out and ROADLOK still works like an ordinary disc lock: still locked, without the fixed mount that makes it different.
Alongside Sold Secure
ART is one of two independent ratings ROADLOK holds. The other is Sold Secure Powered Cycle Diamond in the UK, awarded on 30 July 2026 as a series approval across all three lock sizes. Sold Secure's Diamond test adds angle grinders and power tools. ROADLOK Holds Sold Secure Powered Cycle Diamond
ROADLOK is an integrated disc lock for motorcycles. The lock body bolts to the front brake caliper and stays on the bike. When you park, you insert the BrakeBolt™ locking pin through the brake disc and turn the key. When you ride, the BrakeBolt is in your pocket, not in the lock. Designed and made in the USA of US and foreign parts, by New Hampton Technologies, LLC.
